Meet the Man Behind The George Foreman Grill, Oxi-Clean, Sonicare & More – Rick Cesari, The Godfather of the Infomercial

If you are not familiar with Rick Cesari, you are most definitely familiar with some of the brands he has built into multi-million dollar empires. In this inaugural episode of the brand new Private Label Movement, Kevin talks with Rick about the importance of brand building, and the lessons e-commerce entrepreneurs can take from direct to consumer marketing.

Early Beginnings at the Store

Rick learned how to do business from childhood. His father owned a small grocery store, and he spent a lot of his time there.

That taught him how to deal with people. Also, he learned how to listen to customers. He took what he learned to identify which works and which doesn’t.

Business at the Beach

Rick studied biology at Westminster College. He once dreamed of becoming a dentist, and already planned with his friend to go to dental school. But, he did not want to continue school immediately.

Their family moved to Daytona Beach eventually. That’s when he started selling suntan lotion by day and did bartending by night.

Into Sales

Knowing his personality now, Rick shares that he might not be able to pursue dental practice. He is not sure if it would last.

His selling experience opened him to direct selling. He did a lot of good sales technique. One good technique was upselling.
