Into the Family Business
Stephen worked for 10 years in the Royal Australian Navy as an electronics technician. That gave him the privilege to travel around the world.
Afterwards, he joined their family business and helped in expanding it. They ended up manufacturing in China. That's when he started visiting offshore financial centers around the world.
The Decision to Stay
As their business advanced, he decided to permanently reside in Hong Kong. To this day, he still lives there.
The family is into the wholesaling business. They import products, which they manufacture from China, Taiwan, or Korea. This way, their margins increased.
More Flexibility, More Profit
Since they work directly with the manufacturers, they get to increase their capital too. They also get to brand and customize the products the way they want.
As Stephen discusses, doing so helps in shipping and distribution. And, the opportunity surely gave them more flexibility in running their business.
