Retail veteran Andrew Sanocki sold his first e-commerce business to investors in 2011 after eight successful years, thriving during a time in which many e-tailers struggled mightily. In this episode, Drew joins Kevin to talk about the simple steps to Double Your Private Label Sales in 12 Months with Drew Sanocki of Nerd Marketing.
The eCommerce Veteran
Drew entered the world of eCommerce in 2002 and considers himself an old timer. He started with a modern home design drop-ship retail store. Drew grew the business through 2011 when he sold the business to a private investment group.
After selling off his business, Drew entered the world of private equity. He started as a consultant and transitioned into the role of operating partner. In essence he's the player on the bench called in for special situations.
When Andrew graduated from business school in 2000 it was the first bust of online businesses. Pets.com and iVillage all imploded. Everyone was unemployed and trying to figure out what to do.
At the time, Drew was passionate about product design, home design and architecture. He attended lots of trade shows and quickly discovered that online space was crowded. He decided to focus on marketing those products and started a simple website to sell some of the cooler products he had found.
Three Ways to Grow
There are three ways to generate traffic to your site. The first is increasing your average order value. This is the average dollar per order. The second is to increase the total purchases per customer.
