Kevin Rizer Passes the Mic to Jonathan Gabriel 000

Former and present hosts Kevin Rizer and Jonathan Gabriel sit together for the first time. We get to know Jonathan better and learn about his entrepreneurial journey, aspirations and how he feels about taking over and tracing the footsteps of Kevin as host of Private Label Movement. Join us on this episode, Kevin Rizer Passes the Mic to Jonathan Gabriel.

“It means unlimited possibilities, no ceilings, let your ambitions run wild professionally, socially… and the sky’s the limit.” – Jonathan Gabriel on running the podcast in NYC

Jonathan Gabriel – Brick and Mortar at Risk

Seventeen floors above Wall Street, Kevin and Jonathan talk about the irony of running a podcast on private label literally above the world’s largest stock exchange pit.

“Never before has brick and mortar been more at risk.” – Jonathan Gabriel

The private label evolution began with the likes of Kevin, Jonathan and the entire community of people who started brands. Nibbling at elephant heels without any hint of hesitation, many brands have traveled far and wide and reached so many people who have shared and continue to share in their success.

Wall Street Dreams

When Jonathan was much younger, he aspired to be part of Wall Street and become its king. The cult classics that hit the big screens sparked his interest in the field. He loved what traders did and what they stood for.

Apart from the vision of trading, the prospect of buying material things and having the freedom to hold power to create a social circle, standard and lifestyle also enticed him. The world of stocks is so different compared to the corporate drudgery represented in mainstream media. At thirteen, Jonathan started buying stocks.

A Different Path

But like Kevin predicted, Jonathan’s childhood dreams didn’t figure. After working in finance, he found out that it wasn’t as stimulating as it was cracked out to be. Thus he hit the road of entrepreneurship.

But as if his life came full circle, he still ended up working around Wall Street.

Is This Still On 268

Kevin Rizer Pics Up His Mic

Today on Private Label Movement, Kevin dusts off the mic, checks in with what he’s been up to, why he’s been gone and what to expect on this episode, Is This Still On.

A Fruitful Break

Kevin has taken a break from the show since January when they stopped publishing episodes and new content. In the interim, he focused on his family and the brands he’s been building over the last four and a half years. The business has been going well since, and Kevin has felt less stressed.

“For a lot of us, we get pulled in so many directions and I certainly was feeling that over the last year or two.” – Kevin Rizer

Dropping a Few Things

Kevin spent his break with his loved ones and did some personal traveling. He allowed himself to breathe and focus on fewer things. This decision has produced very pleasing results.

“I was doing a lot of things but not doing any of them exceptionally well.” – Kevin Rizer on his overwhelm

He realized he was doing a lot of things mediocre, so he zoomed out of the million things on his plate and focused on what matters instead.

A Flourishing Life

During this period of intense focus, Kevin’s business’ sales have gone up by 30%. They are also about to wrap up their best August on record, which is exciting since this month is usually slow for e-commerce businesses. He and his team have done a lot of things to keep the momentum going and to keep their sales up, and he’s looking forward to what the remainder of the year has in store for them.

With his life going in the direction he desires, Kevin would also like to hear from you! Leave a comment on social media, iTunes or Stitcher and he’ll make sure to get back to you.

Best of 2017 Private Label Movement Podcasts Part 2 267

Best of 2017 Private Label Movement Podcasts

It’s been a great year at Private Label Movement. We’re winding down the last two weeks of 2017 with some of the best guests with amazing insights for growing your business in 2018!

Focus on Culture and the Influencers

Today, we are featuring the episodes we had with two successful sellers Kevin Pasco and Brian Burt. Kevin finds his satisfaction from having the best team. Brian, on the other hand, achieved success through his partnerships with influencers for his product.

Hiring a Culture of Success

According to Kevin Pasco, hiring a culture is one of the best things they’ve done. They attracted people from Fortune 500 companies to work with them.

“Sometimes you have to step back, realize it’s the wrong decision and scrap it.” – Kevin Pasco on business focus

Kevin learned a lot from the Silicon Valley. He shares that the great thing about what they are doing is it allows them to learn for free from the big companies.

Winning with Influencers

Brian Burt leveraged influencer marketing for their product. They were selling selfie sticks. For that, they reached out to about a dozen influencers.

“The key to Amazon success in today’s market is external influencers.” – Brian Burt

About 5 of 6 of the influencers agreed. They did it without any fees. With the increase in conversions, Brian also saw an increase in rankings.

The journey also provided a couple of treats and privileges. It paved the way for Kevin to meet and share the stories of private label sellers. It also allowed him to travel the globe and opened doors for business opportunities.

“I am incredibly grateful that you have let me into your life and that you shared with me your stories, successes, and sometimes your failures.” – Kevin Rizer

Coupon Update 264

Amazon Coupon Update

Kevin is back with his Amazon seller coupon update. What are the things he observed and how can you set up one for your products? Tune in!

“I really love this new coupon feature from Amazon.” – Kevin Rizer

Coupon Feature for Sellers

Amazon coupons have been out for a long time already. It is a feature that is available to most sellers on Amazon.

Before, only vendors and Amazon may use them. Now, third-party sellers may also use them to improve their brands and sales.

Things to Love About the Coupons

Kevin tested it on his products, both on the new ones and on those that have been performing well for a while. He loves the Amazon coupons for a couple of reasons.

“There is a lot of truth to the fact that consumers … when they see that something is on sale, they are more likely to buy.” – Kevin Rizer

One of the things he loves about it is east convenience in setting up. It only takes about 2 to 3 minutes. It is also a powerful feature that sellers may consider for their brands.

Cost of Amazon Coupons

The Amazon coupons feature is also affordable. Other ways of increasing sales like Facebook Ads and AdWords can be time-consuming and costly.

“While there are fees associated with coupons, they are very nominal.” – Kevin Rizer

How much does this feature cost? You only pay whatever the discount plus 60 cents per coupon redeemed. That is less than the other ways of increasing sales.

Best of 2017 Private Label Movement Podcasts

It’s been a great year at Private Label Movement. We’re winding down the last two weeks of 2017 with some of the best information from our guests.

“I wanted to take a look back and bring you some of my favorite moments, favorite episodes from the year.” – Kevin Rizer introducing Parts 1 and 2 of the Best of 2017 Private Label Movement Podcasts

Popular Topics in the Industry

Two of the popular topics in e-commerce take the center stage for today’s episode. They are Amazon reimbursements and intellectual property. Featured guests are Karen Ellenberger and Maria Speth.

On Amazon Reimbursements

Karen Ellenberger started during the early days of Amazon. She analyzes data to help other sellers primarily with optimal reimbursement management.

“There is no better place to launch a business with very little resources (than Amazon).” – Karen Ellenberger

According to her, the total size depends on the seller’s account. There are things that impact the loss of damaged items. Among which is the category of the item being sold.

On Brand Registry and Trademark

Maria Speth is a trademark attorney. She specializes in intellectual property for online sellers.

“Litigation is ugly, it’s expensive. It’s not where you want to be.” – Maria Speth on the power of prevention

According to Maria, a seller should think about intellectual property right from the start. The earlier it is done, the better. This is because litigation isn’t just expensive; it also takes away time from your business.

Time to Reconsider Seller Fulfilled Prime? 262

Time to Reconsider Seller Fulfilled Prime?

It has been more than a year already since the release of Amazon Prime. What’s in it for you? Here are some quick insights on what it is and how it works, because it just might be the perfect time to reconsider Seller Fulfilled Prime. Tune in!

“Last week, Amazon announced a limited time promotion that reduces the referral fee for items that you enable for seller fulfilled Prime.” – Kevin Rizer

What is Amazon Prime?

Amazon Prime is a program that enables sellers to send orders directly to their customers. They do not need to send them to the company’s fulfillment center.

Popularity and Perks of Prime Orders

Back then, direct fulfillment was only available through Merchant Fulfilled Network. Now, 70% are Prime orders.

“Amazon wanted to have more of those items eligible for Prime and the way they’ve done that is through Seller Fulfilled Prime.” – Kevin Rizer

Not many sellers send items via Amazon fulfillment center because of weight, value, and purpose. Those ineligible for Prime orders do not enjoy advantages like easier returns and free shipping.

Requirements for Seller Fulfilled Prime

Should you want to join the program, you need to adhere to the standards set by Amazon for Prime orders. Sellers cannot just ship items anytime they want.

“Amazon requires that 100% of your orders are sent via 2-day delivery that are designated as Prime orders.” – Kevin Rizer

One requirement is to ship items within two days. It could present some difficulty for a variety of reasons. There are other requirements in the list.

To find out more about the program and how it works, download and listen to Time to Reconsider Seller Fulfilled Prime.
